2nd ANNUAL DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE INDUSTRY DAY SCHEDULED ON MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST
Moss Point, Mississippi – The South Mississippi Contract Procurement Center (SMCPC) will host the “2nd Annual Department of Defense Industry Day” on Thursday, November 5th from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Pelican Landing Conference Center located at 6217 Hwy. 613 in Moss Point, MS. On-site check-in begins at 8:00 a.m.
The event is designed to provide Mississippi small businesses the opportunity to network with prime contractors in the shipbuilding community, government agencies, as well as other small businesses. The program also offers “learning sessions” designed to enhance a small business’ chance of selling their products/services to a prime.
“The defense-related shipbuilding industry along the Mississippi Gulf Coast provides millions of dollars in procurement opportunities each year,” said Marcia McDowell, Director of the South Mississippi Contract Procurement Center (SMCPC). “Last year’s event was well attended and we’re expecting even greater participation this year.”
Speakers include Sarkis Tatigian, Associate Director of Small Business Programs, U. S. Department of the Navy; Jeff Lynde, Deputy Director of Contracts, U. S. Department of the Navy; and Janita Stewart, District Director of the Mississippi U. S. Small Business Administration.
