Gulfport Chamber recognizes small businesses at Fall Meeting

Fall MeetingGULFPORT—Small businesses were recognized and awarded $9,000 in grants at Gulfport Chamber of Commerce’s inaugural Fall Meeting at 8 a.m., October 27, at the Courtyard by Marriott Gulfport beachfront hotel.

2009 Gulfport Chamber president Brandon Pike said the event afforded Chamber-member businesses “well-deserved recognition.”

 “We spend our entire year building and implementing programs that foster community and promote economic development,” Pike said.  “Of all we do, this small business grant program has the most significant impact on our businesses and the city of Gulfport.”

Mayor George Schloegel was the featured speaker at the breakfast. 

Businesses that received grants Tuesday: A Work of Art, Alice’s Café, B&K Painting, Dimensions Gallery, Floor Trader, Huntington Learning Center, John Westley School of Music, School & Carnival Supplies, Ship Island Excursions, and Sweet Creations 4 U.

Gulfport Chamber’s Fall Meeting was sponsored by Coast Electric Power Association, Roy Anderson Corp and Whitney National Bank.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce is a membership organization comprised of businesses in Harrison County and throughout South Mississippi. Through a partnership among the Biloxi, Gulfport, Long Beach, and Pass Christian Chambers of Commerce, Coast Chamber promotes community and economic development on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
