GULFPORT—Scrub Stop was selected to be the first business recognized by Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce’s “Businesses and Breakfast” program this morning.
The Chamber selects Chamber-member businesses at random on a monthly basis, and delivers breakfast donated by Southern Grounds Coffeehouse to their doorstep.
Kimberly Nastasi, CEO of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, said the Chamber instituted the “Businesses and Breakfast” program to thank its members for their dedication to the community, and to the Chamber.
“Our members are the driving force behind the Chamber’s success,” Nastasi said. “They deserve to be rewarded for their commitment to bettering the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and this program is a small, but very genuine token of our appreciation.”
Scrub Stop, located on Highway 49, has been doing business in Gulfport since July 2008.
Store owner Mike Tournillon said despite difficult economic times, business is growing.
“It hasn’t been easy, but we’re making it,” Tournillon said. “We enjoy doing business at this location in Gulfport, and are very happy with our decision to open a store here.”
