The event begins at 3:00 p.m. with a beginner Mahjong course that runs until 5:30 p.m.\, followed by an intermediate Mahjong tournament beginning at 6:00 p.m. Throughout the evening\, guests will enjoy appetizers\, dinner\, and wine\, all included with admission fee.\n\nBeginning at 3:00 p.m.\, we will spread extra holiday cheer with a festive drawing every 15 minutes\, giving attendees the chance to win prizes such as Mahjong accessories and ornaments\, restaurant gift cards\, gift baskets from local businesses\, and beverage baskets. If you are looking for a refresher or would like to casually play with new acquaintances and sharpen your skills then this is the event for you. After the first round of the tournament\, participants can join tables for social play. \n\n \n\nTournament Details:\n\nCertified Instructor and mahjong enthusiast Meagan Wack\, owner of Fenney's Fine Gifts and Coastal Mahjong\, will be the tournament director. It is recommended participants to have played mahjong for 4-6 months to keep the pace of the games moving at an efficient speed to complete the tournament. \n\nPlease arrive to 301 East Scenic at 5:30 p.m. to check in for the tournament. The tournament will start at 6 p.m. \n\n \n\nGrand Prize for the Tournament Winner \n\n $500 Gift Card to Feeney's Fine Gifts to select your choice of Oh My Mahjong Tiles and accessorioes.\n\n \n\nTournament Guidelines \n\n American Mahjong will be played following the National Mahjong League rules \n\n Each participant must bring their 2025 NMJL card.\n\n The tournament will be a single elimination tournament. \n\n Participants will be randomly assigned a table to play.\n\n There will be no scoring of hands.\n\n The winner from each table will advance to the next round. \n\n Games will need to be completed in less than 25 minutes to move to the next round unless a wall game occurs. \n\n Once a game concludes\, the table is encouraged to continue to play. The second winner from the table will be designated as an alternate player for the next round. \n\n If a table has multiple wall games\, an alternate player will advance to the next round. \n\n Lighting games will be played when there is a tie or need to advance additional players. Lighting games are played between multiple tables all starting at the same time. The first individual/s to declare mahjong will advance regardless of the table they are playing at. \n\n No cell phones during game play. \n\n When a participant is eliminated\, they will move into social play with other participants at the tournament.
