Join us for Butterflies in the Pass Monarch Festival on Saturday, September 28th from 10am-2pm in War Memorial Park in Pass Christian. The festival will be centered around the Billy Bourdin Butterfly Garden and Monarch Way Station inside War Memorial Park. This event will feature speakers, educational and hands on activities for all ages and a walking parade for anyone in butterfly regalia (including pets). The goal of the festival is to educate the public about Monarch butterflies and how our community can help preserve and protect them with Monarch Way Stations. Our dynamic speakers are listed below: 10:15AM-Dr. Gary Bachman, Host of Southern Gardening-Attracting Butterflies to the Home Garden 11:00AM-Dr. Christian Stephenson, MSU Extension-Life Cycle of Butterflies 11:45-Trecia Neal, Biologist-Conserving and Monitoring Monarchs with Monarch Tagging Demonstration 12:45pm-Amy Nichols, Master Gardener-Planning a Monarch Waystation and Maintaining Milkweed 1:30pm-Butterfly Walking Parade in the park (pets welcome) We are asking those attending to bring lawn chairs (if they are able). Butterfly theme costumes are encouraged! If the weather is bad, the event will be moved to the Pass Christian Library (located at 111 Hiern Avenue).
