Join OOMA in welcoming Turry Flucker for his Gallery Talk: "Art as an Agent for Social Change: The Development of the New York Art Committee for Tougaloo College and Spiral, An Art Collective." Turry will present a lecture about the New York Art Committee for Tougaloo College and the African American artist collective called Spiral. Both organizations were established in 1963 at the height of the American Civil Rights Movement. The goal for each organization was to use art and the voice of the artist to address social issues of the day. This gallery talk is in conjunction with OOMA's exhibition Access: Works from the Tougaloo College Art Collections, 1963-1967, organized by Mr. Flucker. Access is available for viewing through August 11, 2018.
