MSIM will host a reception in honor of Wade and Julia Guice on Saturday, August 17th at 6:00 pm, We will be re-dedicating our hurricane gallery in honor of the couple that revolutionized the way we communicate impending storms on the Coast. The event will feature a live music, specialty drinks, light hors d'oeuvres, and raffle. The reception will cost $10.
Our Camille at 50 exhibition includes an immersive/ interactive exhibit on the third floor of the museum. This exhibit will feature photos of each city along the coast, an interactive story telling exhibit based on the AT&T phone banks that provided many with their only form of communication after the storm. There will also be an exhibit of furniture built by Wade Guice who is the grandson of Wade and Julia Guice who each played a crucial role during Camille as the Directors of the Harrison County and Biloxi Civil Defense Departments.
The first floor will feature exhibitions built by our partners who were at the forefront of the recovery process. These will include contributions from: The Sun Herald, Mississippi Power, The Biloxi Fire Department, and RJ Deno.
