    The Back Bay Mission Bookkeeper is responsible for recording and maintaining Back Bay Mission’s financial transactions, such as purchases, expenses, donations, invoices, and payments. They will record financial data into general ledgers, which are used to produce the balance sheet and income statement.

    Position Requirements:
    • The ideal candidate with have computer literacy, especially familiarity with spreadsheets, databases, and accounting software such as Microsoft Office Excel and QuickBooks
    • Good attention to detail to enter correct data into financial records and recognize errors • Strong mathematics skills for accurate record-keeping
    • Solid administrative skills for filing financial records
    • Multi-tasking and organizational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with customers, suppliers and other employees of Back Bay Mission
    • Good Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial matters in accessible terms

    General Tasks:
    • Cut checks for payables weekly or as requested by Lead Staff
    • Prepare agency bills for mailing
    • Reconcile credit cards statements with receipts
    • Reconcile bank accounts monthly
    • Enter data of all gifts received into donor software system
    • Respond to requests of Back Bay Mission staff (specifically Lead Team) for various reports regarding donor information 
    • Perform mail merges and other duties to process and mail all donor acknowledgements on a timely basis for newsletters, appeals, and other mailings as necessary
    • Export, sort, and format donation acknowledgement information for newsletter and other monthly or annual reports
    • Process bi-weekly payroll
    • Assist in preparing monthly ESG draws
    • Assist in preparing monthly HUD draws
    • Assist in preparing monthly HOPWA reimbursements
    • Assist in preparing monthly Mississippi Health Department reimbursements
    • Assist in preparing monthly HOME – ARP reimbursements
    • Attends monthly Back Bay Mission Staff Meetings and participates in staff development
    • Other tasks/responsibilities as requested by Back Bay Mission’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or Executive Director (ED)
