About Us
The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a nationwide, community-based organization dedicated to saving lives, celebrating lives, and leading the fight for a world without cancer. Through groundbreaking research, patient support, advocacy, and prevention efforts, ACS works to ensure that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.
Locally, the Shuck Cancer Gulf Coast campaign brings this mission to life by uniting business leaders, volunteers, and community members across southern and coastal Mississippi. This signature fundraising event supports critical patient services, including transportation to treatment, lodging through Hope Lodge, and access to care programs that help break down barriers for rural and coastal Mississippians—ensuring patients can get to the care they need, when they need it.
Shuck Cancer is more than an event—it is a community movement. Through partnerships, sponsorships, and an engaged Ambassador program, the campaign raises vital funds while increasing awareness and mobilizing local support. Every dollar raised directly supports efforts to remove obstacles to treatment and improve outcomes for patients across our region.
Together, with the support of the Gulf Coast business community and partners like the Chamber of Commerce, we are working to end cancer as we know it—for everyone.
